Clean Energy. Clean Living. Carbon Neutral
We harness clean energy from the sun, wind, and earth to power our homes and hopes.
Carbon Neutral Villages
The idea of development is incomplete without empowering farmers, so we at Rit Rural Foundation started the ‘carbon neutral village’ initiative. At the core, this initiative is aimed at improving carbon sequestration, keeping the natural ecosystem intact, and preserving biodiversity. We aim to empower the hands that feel us by doubling the income of farmers and securing their future. Chamoli, Senu, Simult, Kimoli, and Malli are some of the villages where we have left our mark so far, and we do not intend to stop just here. We wish to reach every farmer in India. To achieve every objective, Rit has launched three projects: multilayer farming, oxygen farming, and carbon farming. Numbers alone can’t capture the heart of what we do, yet they speak volumes about our work. So here you go: 5215 trees have been planted as part of the project. We have trained 500 local farmers for the maintenance and nurturing of the trees. More than 500 women have been empowered to undertake value addition and upskill themselves.

Carbon Farming
Rit Rural Foundation is committed to achieving net zero carbon emission goals, and a watershed moment in this journey is the launch of a carbon farming project. Under this initiative, we aim to cultivate Spirulina, a superfood packed with health benefits. This initiative has blossomed into a source of green jobs as well and employed more than 100 women in Jaipur and Rajasthan.

Multilayer Farming
Rit Rural Foundation has successfully trained more than 100 small farmers so far to help them implement the model of multilayer farming. The model allows the farmers to grow 4-5 crops simultaneously so that they optimise time, effort, and harvests. So far, thousands of crops have been grown under the multilayer farming model. The seeds of change were sown in Padri Kalan, Nevarna, Unnao district, Uttar Pradesh, Chaurasiyapur, and Raebareli, and the list continues to grow.

Oxygen Forest
As a part of our Carbon Neutral Villages Initiative, Rit Rural Foundation has launched the Oxygen Forest project. So far, it has helped us tackle two challenges simultaneously – environmental degradation and the lack of jobs for marginalized sections in rural areas.
