Prompt action saved thousands of lives during peak cold wave
Cold waves in Delhi and Unnao during January resulted in people dying in shelter homes and on the roadside. Rit’s team conducted extensive surveys and listed the night spots, be it hospitals like RML and AIIMS or residential and commercial areas like Kashmiri Gate, Karol Bagh, Madanpuri, or Rana Pratap Bagh and Gurgram, where the majority of homeless people take shelter at night.
More than 3,200+ blankets were acquired and distributed among these needy people within seven days, as the timeliness of this drive was also crucial.
The operation provided the needed warmth and reduced cold-related health risks among homeless people.
