In August 2023, many districts in Uttarakhand, including Chamoli, Gopeshwar, Joshimath, and Kotdwar, experienced torrential rainfall. This situation led to landslides, crop devastation, infrastructure damage, and loss of lives.
Rit’s district coordinators in Uttarakhand immediately started the rescue operation, reaching out to the worst-hit places. Our team goal was to work on dual fronts—dry ration kit distribution and shelter kits containing tarpaulin Sheets, sanitary pads for girls, soap, a bucket, and mosquito nets, among other products, made available to victims in the remotest areas.
Owing to the flood conditions, transportation wasn’t feasible, and delivering help was the biggest challenge. The local Rit team pushed itself even harder to help humanity and delivered the 2000+ shelter kits and 840+ ration kits on foot, reaching the last mile.
By 30th September 2023, Rit’s efforts helped more than 3500+ people in Uttarakhand, including saints and masses in Haridwar and Rishikesh.
Rit’s compassion for mankind motivated them to reach and deliver hope and lifelines.
